Metrove

Now in public beta

Your city's trains, live.

Watch every subway train in New York, Boston and the Bay Area move in real time, on a map you'll want to leave open. Then ride to earn tokens, and build a model railway of your own.

Free while in beta. iPhone, iOS 18 or later.

Pick your look.

A star chart. An old printed map. A glowing circuit board. A plaster relief with glass marbles. A toy railway. Or the classic LED board it all started from. The same live trains, whichever you choose.

And on your Home Screen: widgets in every look, with the trains near you or near a station you pin.

Ride. Earn. Build.

Metrove turns the trips you already take into a railway of your own.

1

Ride

Log your commute with one tap. Metrove notes every station you pass, even with your phone locked, and draws the trip in your look.

A logged commute from 33 St to Grand Central on the 6, 29 minutes and 2 stops, drawn in Modern

2

Earn

Every new station pays 25 tokens and every stop you log 5 more. Check in each day, finish the daily missions (walk 5,000 steps, visit a station), and keep a 30-day streak for pieces you can't buy.

The day's check-in and two daily missions, both done and ready to claim for 10 tokens each

3

Build

Spend tokens on track, trains, buildings and animals. New scenery takes a few days of riding; a new train, a week or two. Worth every stop.

A model railway that grows as you ride.

Trains run their loops, windmills turn and townspeople stroll, by day and by night. Mirror stations send a train out when the real one leaves. And your railway earns its own takings every day.

What will yours become?

A town board: streets, houses, a carousel and a river

A Boston harbor board: brick buildings on the water, a ship and a lighthouse

Made for iPhone Duo

Build on its side.

Turn your phone sideways and the whole screen is for building: your town on one side, every piece on the other. Hold a piece and carry it where you want it. Unfolded on iPhone Duo, there's room for both.

Collect the stations you ride from.

At a station, it glows on the board: stamp it once a day. Come back on more days for bolder marks, all the way up to a landmark.

Race your friends.

Add friends by code and race each week for the most stamps, steps and tokens. Send hearts, and spend the ones you get in the friendship shop. Your card is only shared if you choose to share it.

And a great everyday subway app.

As useful on the platform as it is lovely on the couch.
